CBD-Tincture-Dosage

CBD is still a relatively new product in the consumer sphere, and the formal research on it is sparse at best. This means that dosing CBD tinctures is an informal science, one that many people have only gotten right with a little help from personal experimentation and patience. However, we can share at least a few tips that you can use to find the right dosage for you.

Dosing tinctures is an informal science, How your body interacts with CBD tinctures is dependent on many things. Find out how to properly dose CBD tinctures

Guide to CBD Tinctures

How your body interacts with CBD tinctures is dependent on the following:

  • Bodyweight
  • Tolerance
  • Any medications you’re taking
  • Concentration of CBD oil

The toxicity level of hemp-derived CBD is extremely high, to the point of being generally unaffordable.

CBD Tinctures Dosage

Tinctures can be either added to your food or beverages or it can be taken under the tongue. Unlike other methods of ingestion, tinctures can run the gamut when it comes to concentrations. They may range anywhere from 100 – 5,000 mg in bottles of either 15 or 30 mL.

So while some sources may tell you to start with 1 mL and progress from there, you need to consider just how concentrated the product is. The higher the concentration, the stronger the dose. That’s why we recommend taking CBD in low doses if you’re starting with a tincture.

Here are just a few suggestions based on your bodyweight:

  • If you weigh less than 130 pounds: take around 11 mg to experience mild relief, up to 14 mg for moderate effects and up to 17 mg for extra strength.
  • For those between 130 – 230: 18 mg (mild), up to 23 mg (moderate), up to 27 mg (extra strength).
  • Those over 230 pounds: 23 milligrams (mild), up to 30 mg (moderate), up to 45 mg (extra strength).

As you can see these numbers are not exactly specific. If you weigh closer to 130 pounds than 230 pounds, you may want to start with a much lower dose to ensure you’re not going overboard.

How Long to Wait

CBD tinctures take between 15 – 45 minutes to kick in, and you’ll likely hit a peak at about 1.5 hours. This is longer than other types of CBD oil, but many people prefer tinctures because they’re easier on the lungs without compromising the strength of the dosage

If you have the tinctures with food or beverages, it may take closer to an hour or more to set in. The good news is that the effects can last for up to four hours, so you shouldn’t necessarily need to worry about the original dosing wearing off entirely if you need to take more.

Finding Your Way

Because these are only suggestions, it may take you a while to find a dosage that works for you. When you purchase CBD tinctures from a company, the best advice is to monitor your reaction until you can work out which dosages are right for you.
